You’ve probably heard about the Krema Nut Company over in Grandview, purveyors of fine, fresh nut products prepared right in their own factory there, but have you heard about their sandwich counter, which serves gourmet peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches?

We just had to check this out and, moms, for real you have to get over there. Yes, it might seem a little extravagant to shell out $3.50-$4.50 for something you can (and do) slap out in 35 seconds flat for a lunchbox. But listen to this --

The Double Decker: Two layers of Krema’s own freshly ground peanut butter and jelly between three slices of bread. (using Sarabeth and Clearbrook Farm jellies and Great Harvest Bread Company bread, we might add!)

The Kicker: Hot & spicy peanut butter topped with a layer of hot raspberry preserves.

The PB Apple Cheesecake: Peanut butter on one side with cinnamon cream cheese and chunky apple fruit spread on the other.

There’s a total of 12 PB&J (or Nutella or bananas or apple fruit spread or cashew butter) sandwiches to choose from.

But wait! There’s more — peanut-butter-based milkshakes (or without peanut butter, if you just want the straight up strawberry, chocolate or vanilla) for $3, and ice-cream sundaes of several types for $2.25-$3.25.

The Krema Nut Company is located at 1000 W. Goodale Blvd. (on the north side of the boulevard), their phone number is 614-299-4131, and their website is www.krema.com.

The sandwich counter is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. They do close the sandwich counter from the day before Thanksgiving until the first business day in January because every spare hand is needed in the factory for those holiday orders of nuts, butters and candies. And unfortunately they are no longer able to offer tours of the factory space to anyone younger than 21 (insurance issues), but you do get a good view of the factory from the windows in the gift shop.

So head on over with an appetite and tell ‘em Columbus Parent sent you!
