School has begun, but did you remember to get that Well Child Checkup before the kids headed back? If not, there's still time! Dr. Lisa Stone from Southwest Pediatrics in Grove City is also a member of Children's Practicing Pediatricians. The CPP is an independent non-profit medical association of doctors on the medical staff at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Dr. Stone tells us that one of the biggest misconceptions that she encounters in her practice is that "wells" (as those in the pediatric biz call them) are necessary only for vaccinations.

"Well-child checkups are not just for shots," Dr. Stone told Columbus Parent. "They're needed for checking lots of things -- eating habits, sleeping, growth rates, even things like how they're doing in school."

All of this is information that your child's doctor needs to know in order to gauge changes in health and behavior. So, if you haven't already, go get that "well" now!
