If you're looking for an alternative to Halloween trick or treatery this Sunday, the Carpe Diem String Quartet has a great family event going on at the Harrison Park Community Center.

It starts with a free hour-long family-friendly concert on Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. with playful musical selections and interactive exercises. If you decide to stay for the not-free portion of the events, there's a tea and dessert reception at 3 p.m. Guests are invited to mingle with Carpe Diem musicians and friends in the kitchen and then move into the great room for the concert at 4 p.m. which features Grammy-Award-winning Tango master Raul Jaurena. He'll perform original and traditional pieces during both concerts.

"We're a quartet that rocks," said Chas Wetherbee, Carpe Diem String Quartet violinist. "Our concerts are fun and laid-back experiences that invite people to enjoy music in a completely un-stuffy environment."

The Harrison Park Community Center is located at 575 West 1st Ave. in the Harrison West neighborhood of Columbus. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $20 for senior citizens and include the cost of pre-concert refreshments. They can be purchased by calling 614-205-8160, visiting carpediemstringquartet.com, or at the door. Students may purchase $10 tickets at the door. Parking is free.
