Did you know that libraries are a great place to go for free fun in Central Ohio?

Starting in the March issue of Columbus Parent (which starts getting distributed next Monday, Feb. 28), we’ll be making it easier than ever to find free events in our Calendar section. But in the meantime, here are some great events to check out:

• As of this afternoon, we found out there are four spots left in the Theatre Workshop happening this Friday from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Westerville Public Library. This workshop will be a dance-oriented program for kids, ages 8 to 11. It’s free and it’s open to everyone, even if you don’t live in Westerville. But call NOW if you want to get one of those remaining four spots.

• Perhaps needless to point out (because it was just named the 2010 Library of the Year in the U.S. by the Gale/Library Journal), the Columbus Metropolitan Library’s Events calendar is just absurdly loaded with free events. You can search the calendar by branch location, event type (Baby Laptime, anyone?) and age groups.

• Or how about another national Library of the Year library — Worthington, winner in 2007? You can head to their Facebook page for frequent updates on free events and more.

We’ve got lots of great libraries throughout Central Ohio, so go check them out!
