The third annual Columbus City Schools Poetry Slam finals are tonight and, as always, they are guaranteed to be an amazing experience.
Students from 18 CCS high schools first competed in a district preliminary on April 30, and tonight from 6-9 p.m. at Capital University’s Mees Auditorium, the finalists (and the audience) will enjoy their big showdown.
Poetry slams are designed to give students an opportunity write about what they know — their lives, struggles, and success while improving their writing and presenting skills. During a slam, poets will have three minutes to perform their original work before an audience and panel of judges.
So check it out and cheer these talented young poets on!
