We’re cresting the hill on summer and, we don't know about you, but suddenly we’re having wistful thoughts about shoveling snow.
But at least the new issue of Columbus Parent is here to alleviate some of our midsummer malaise!
Our back-to-school issue starts hitting pick-up locations today. To find the pick-up location nearest to you, just click here for our zip-code searchable database.
Part of the fun we had in producing this month's issue came when we put together a "Back to School Party for Parents." Sure it felt a little odd to stage one in the middle of summer, but we had plenty of good ideas for how you might be able to stage one of your own (those little dry-erase, handwriting-practice boards we found at Target - in that $1 section - were just way too much fun to use as menu cards!).
But then we got to thinking: Wouldn't it be more fun to GIVE our readers a party of their own to celebrate the start of school? So we ran the idea past the lovely folks at Matt the Miller's Tavern, a family-fave restaurant with locations in both Dublin and Grandview Heights. Well, long story short, the Tavern is supplying us with a lunch party for one lucky winner and up to 7 of his or her closest and likely-to-be best friends forever! It’s a free lunch (worth up to $120, tips and alcohol not included). The one catch is you have to be able to have your lunch (and eat it, too – ha!) on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m. at the Tavern’s Dublin location. (Trust us, we figured it was best to set a date and time ourselves because if you enter now, you’ve got a month to get everyone’s schedules clear.)
We’ll be taking entries on our website from Aug. 1 through Aug. 15. We'll then randomly draw a winner and contact that person on Aug. 16. If that person can't use their prize on Aug. 30, we'll just keep drawing names until we come up with someone who can! But, come on, it'll be Back to School time, and you deserve a break!
