Mark your calendars now for the next several weekends and Wednesdays of holiday classic films at the Gateway Film Center. The second annual Holiday Classics film series begins next weekend with showings of "Miracle on 34th Street" (the 1947 original, puh-lease) on Nov. 26, 27 and 30.

The series then continues for the nextfour weekends with "Holiday Inn" (Dec. 3, 4, 7), "It's a Wonderful Life" (Dec. 10, 11, 14), "The Shop Around the Corner" (Dec. 17, 18, 21) and "White Christmas" (Dec. 24, 25, 28).

The nice twist is all the films are shown free with a suggested donation of a toy to benefit The Open Shelter. With the help of volunteers and donors, The Open Shelter assists homeless and marginally housed men, women, and children with food, clothing, hygiene items, payeeships, and housing options.

All films in the holiday series will screen on Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. For more information, visit http://www.gatewayfilmcenter.com/extras.php?extra=2. The theater is located at 1550 N. High St., just south of The Ohio State University's main campus.
