Celebrate the start of the winter season with the Tree Lighting and Holiday Festival at the Ohio Statehouse. For nearly a century, the Statehouse has held the free festival which includes a tree lighting ceremony and activities.

Bring the family to the festival downtown Columbus on Wednesday, Nov. 30 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Youngsters will eagerly await the arrival of Santa Claus himself. He'll make an appearance at 5:30 p.m., and rumor has it that he'll ride in on a horseless carriage (although anything is possible - his vehicle could change due to inclement weather). Listen to holiday music, enjoy refreshments and take a peek at different displays around the Statehouse. There's also a photo opportunity with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

In an effort to give back during the holiday season, the Statehouse encourages guests to bring a nonperishable food item to the festival. All goods received will be given to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank.
