Get excited, because next week is Local Foods Week in Columbus! Celebrate with the city Aug. 11-19 as the Columbus-based organization Local Matters promotes sustainable food and eating.
Here are some of the week's highlights, including family-friendly activities:
Local Foods Family Day at COSI: Visit the science center on Sunday, Aug. 12 from noon to 4 p.m., when kids can learn all about how food is grown. Plus, there will be produce samples!
Kids Klub: So You Think You Can Farm?: Head to the Whole Foods in Dublin from noon to 2 p.m. Children can learn about farming and see some animals.
Crave Magazine's Farm to Plate Restaurant Week: Columbus Parent's sister publication is hosting a week-long event where various Columbus restaurants will have special menus with local ingredients.
And most importantly don't miss our very own editor Jane Hawes at the Hills Market Farmers Market & Foodie Spelling Bee! It all starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11 (at Hills Market in Worthington), and Jane will help judge the Kids' Cookoff Challenge.
