Customers can borrow media on mobile, Web devices
The Columbus Metropolitan Library is piloting a new lending service called "hoopla." It allows customers to use library cards to borrow from more than 300,000 videos, audiobooks and music albums using a smartphone, tablet or web browser. It's designed for users of all ages and skill levels, and our Columbus library system is one of only seven library systems in the country to pilot hoopla.
A feature unique to hoopla is that more than one customer can check out materials at a time. Additionally, when the lending period expires, titles are automatically removed from the customer's device-so no late fees are ever incurred. Customers are limited to six downloads per month.
