The clock is ticking for nominations to be submitted in Columbus Parent's first-ever Teachers of the Year competition! We'll be accepting nominations from school principals, district superintendents and other school officials through March 15, then selecting finalists in the elementary, middle and high-school categories. So if you know a great teacher who deserves to be nominated, be sure to ask your school principal if he or she has nominated that teacher. Area principals have been sent the nomination info, but here's the link you can send them: www.columbusparent.com/teachers.
After the nomination period closes, Columbus Parent will select the finalists. A panel of judges, which includes professional educators, will evaluate the finalists and select merit-award winners in each category. But, wait, there's more!
All the finalists will be eligible for the People's Choice award, an online-voting competition sponsored by Sylvan Learning of Lewis Center. Voting for this award will begin March 25 and run until May 3.
Prizes in each of the three merit-award categories and the one People's Choice award categories will include a $500 cash prize. The winners will receive their awards at a school assembly before the end of this school year, and will be featured in Columbus Parent's August Back-to-School issue.
