Columbus City Schools hosting event Jan. 25

Looking to help your third grader pass the reading portion of the Ohio Achievement Assessment test and move on to the fourth grade? Columbus City Schools is hosting a Parent Literacy Academy this Saturday, Jan. 25 to help parents help their kids.

The program will take place from 10 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. at East High School (1500 E. Broad St.). Registration begins at 9:30 AM. The District also is providing free transportation from all of its high schools to and from East High School.

Parents will be provided with practical tips and strategies from CCS literacy coaches and teachers in four workshops. The morning also includes a food and community resource fair, where parents can get snacks, door prizes, gift bags - and a take-home book for every third grader. Translators and multi-lingual volunteers will also be available for non-English-speaking families.
