No All-Star Game, but lots of fun anyway

Slap on those ice skates - Winter Park is back!

Starting this Friday and continuing through Feb. 21, the Blue Jackets Winter Park, presented by Worthington Industries, brings outdoor ice skating, hockey and much more to the Arena District!

The park, which was first introduced last year during the NHL All-Star Game festivities, was a huge hit with central Ohio families. Situated on McPherson Commons (across Nationwide Boulevard from the arena at 218 West St.), the park holds an official-size ice rink. In fact, the Blue Jackets themselves will christen the park by holding an outdoor practice this Friday, Jan. 22, at 12 noon. And then public skating begins right after at 1:30 p.m. The public skate sessions are first-come, first-served for being able to get out on the ice.

Skating, including skate rental, is $5 (cash only). Other activities will include fire pits for warm-ups, entertainment, food and a Blue Jackets replica locker room. Blue Jackets games will be shown on a giant video board on weekends.
