Gateway offers sensory-friendly screening

E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial is back on the big screen in Columbus this weekend.

The beloved Steven Spielberg film about a special alien befriended by a boy named Elliott is playing Saturday, April 9, as part of Gateway Film Center's Sensory Friendly Films series.

The series, held the second Saturday of each month, caters to families and individuals with autism or developmental disabilities. Movies are played at a lower volume, with the lights on. Children can move around or talk without fear of being shushed.

Tickets are free in conjunction with Ohio State University's Nisonger Center, which aims to improve the lives of people with disabilities and their families.

Parking (there is a fee) is available in the garage next to Gateway Film Center, 1550 N. High St. in Columbus. For more information, go to gatewayfilmcenter.com.
