If you're always telling the kids to stay out of the mud, here's a chance for them to play-on purpose-in the muck.
You have International Mud Day to thank.
The World Forum Foundation organized the first of these events June 29, 2011, with the goal of connecting children around the globe through the earth.
This year, Metro Parks will hold three International Mud Day events:
• From 1-3 p.m. June 25 at Three Creeks Park (3860 Bixby Road, Groveport), participants can muck around in the Natural Play Area's giant mud pit. Meet at the Confluence Trails bulletin board.
• At Highbanks Metro Park (9466 U.S. Route 23 N., Lewis Center) from 10 a.m. to noon June 29, kids can make mud pies and dirt dessert, dig for worms and paint a muddy mural. Meet at the Big Meadows Picnic Area.
• From 12:30-2:30 p.m. June 29 at Blendon Woods Metro Park (4265 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Westerville), kids can play and also make a "dirt cup" snack. Meet at the Natural Play Area at Cherry Ridge.
