The Union County Humane Society has scheduled an adoption event Sept. 6.

The UCHS will host an "adoption extravaganza" from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sept 6 at the UCHS shelter, 16540 County Home Road in Marysville. There will be dog obedience and agility demonstrations, face painting, food and drinks.

There will be two other "adoption extravaganzas." The first one will be at PetSmart, 1184 Polaris Parkway, Columbus. The event will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 24. The second will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Aug. 30 at the Honda Marysville Dealership, 640 Coleman's Crossing Boulevard, Marys-ville.

The humane society on Aug. 9 held its fourth annual Run Fur Hope fundraiser. The event included a 5K walk followed by a two-mile dog walk. Proceeds benefited the UCHS. Board member Jim Foeller said the event raised $4,100. He said there were 50 runners and 150 people who walked their dogs.

The event included the Marysville Fire Department giving a walking tour of a fire truck, inspections of child safety seats, and booths from various pet-related vendors. Dolly's Barking Bubbles had a mobile pet-grooming salon and Pet People handed out sample dog food.
