The Grandview K-6 PTO's annual gift wrap sale begins Friday and will run through Sept. 29.

"This is our biggest fundraiser," gift wrap sale co-chair Debbie York said. "The money we raise through this sale allows us to fund the activities and projects we sponsor during the school year."

The PTO sponsors such programs as author visits, COSI on Wheels, Artists in the School Day and After School Adventures, York said. The parents group also provides support for school field trips.

Last year's gift wrap sale raised about $20,000, she said.

In the annual fundraiser, students solicit purchases of items from the Innisbrook Gift Wrap and Fine Chocolates catalog.

During the next couple of weeks, students will collect money from family, friends and community residents for orders from the Innisbrook catalog. Students will place the order at Innisbrook's web site and enter Grandview Schools' assigned number.

Fifty percent of all local sales made during the fundraiser will go to the PTO, York said.

Innisbrook offers a variety of gift wrap, gourmet chocolates, gift items, gourmet foods, totes and bags, candles, greeting cards, calendars and gift wrap accessories.

"The quality of their gift wrap is really nice," York said. "It's made of thick, quality paper. I've been involved in this for eight years, and I've always been so impressed with their products."

This year, Innisbrook is offering a number of environmentally friendly items in its catalog, including reusable shopping bags, lunch tote bags and reusable plastic water bottles, York said.

"You can buy a flashlight that doesn't need batteries," she said. "You just shake it for 30 seconds and the light stays on for 10 minutes."

Innisbrook is also selling "50 Ways To Be Green," a kid-friendly book that gives families tips on being more environmental-friendly, York said.
