Do you know how to go to college?

So you know you want to go to college but you really don't have a clue how to get there. No worries. All you need to do is follow the steps outlined by the KnowHow2GoOhio Campaign. Ohio community groups, schools, businesses and government agencies, including Ohio Governor Ted Strickland, have teamed up with the National KnowHowToGo Campaign because they know you can do it!  No matter your income, or if you're the very first one in your family to go to college, there is a way for you to achieve your dream of a college education. Here's what you need to do:

Step one  
Be a pain in the behind. That's right, this time we are encouraging you to be a pain (in a good way) by reaching out to an adult for help- someone that will walk you through the steps to college.

Step two 
Push yourself. You'll be happy that you did. A college graduate will earn nearly $1 million more over a lifetime than a high school graduate. Make the effort to find the right classes required for college and push yourself to do well in them. 


So you've pushed yourself through high school and taken all the right classes. Now what do you do? Here are two more steps in the KnowHow2GoOhio Campaign.

Step three
Find the right fit.  Develop a list of your needs and wants in college. Narrow your list of schools before you apply.

Step four
Put your hands on some cash. There is money out there to help pay for college, you just need to apply for it. Most families use a mix of the following to pay for school: savings, current earnings, scholarships, grants and education loans.

Financial aid is money that is awarded to you to help you pay for college. Today, more than seven out of every ten college students receive some type of financial aid.
