Little girls, big girls and why we can never let down!

Female candidates and wives of male candidates have been all over the presidential campaign trail this year. As we have discussed just among us girls of course we have the final say in this election. That's why they are trying so hard to impress us!

Last week I had the opportunity to attend a rally with Senator Hillary Clinton. Now, it wouldn't have mattered which fabulous female politico it was Sarah Palin, Cindy McCain or Michelle Obama. Given the proximity of the locale and the time of day, I would have been there.

I was accompanied by the resident princess of my household a politically aware 12-year-old. She was more excited than she was at the last rock concert we hit together! Standing patiently on the rope line for an hour waiting for a chance to shake a strong woman's hand, I couldn't help but watch in awe as said resident princess looked up to another woman.

I grew up in a time when our mamas fought for the freedom to be ourselves. Our daughters are growing up in a time when that's not even a question. They don't have to create female iconoclasts we did it for them. Yay us, but more importantly . . . yay to the intelligent, beautiful, hard-working girls we are bringing up
