Why Am I at the Red Table?
By Julie Firstenberg Kamins
The Tutor Whisperer is now featuring Why Am I at the Red Table?, published by Librujas in a series dedicated to young children with educational challenges. The book is dedicated to kids with a desire to learn and those who have faced challenges in learning and reading.

Why Am I at the Red Table? features a little girl named Madison who is excited about her first day of second grade - until her teacher passes out word lists and assigns reading groups. Madison begins to doubt her reading abilities and soon feels like she doesn't even want to try. See how Madison discovers a valuable, life-long lesson about challenges and the joys of learning.

This book appeals to a variety of children at various levels in the learning process and stresses working at one's own pace and personal best, versus comparing oneself to others. The author wrote the story as a tool to inspire children to have confidence and to know that their experience is shared by millions of others. Available at www.thetutorwhisperer.com for $13.95 plus shipping and handling. Enter to win.

New resource removes roadblocks to the SAT for students with learning disabilities
Each year approximately 150,000 students with learning disabilities (LD) take the SAT. For these students, studying for the test is even more grueling than for traditional students, and yet no study guide existed to help them prepare.

Author Paul Osborne (a.k.a. Paul the Tutor) is keenly aware of these difficulties because he has dyslexia, and because he has been teaching SAT prep to students with LD for seven years. He created all of his own class materials from scratch -materials that have been organized into the LD SAT Study Guide.

As a free supplement to the book, readers have access to a companion website that enables them to take a pre-test, as well as several practice tests, and have them scored automatically. The site also provides subject-specific feedback that shows students where they're struggling and helps them target their preparation to face the SAT with confidence. Available on Penguin.com for $24.95.Enter to win.
