It's hard to resist the allure of the perfect onesie or the just-right gift card for a new parent. And Etsy.com, that addictive repository of online creativity, is just the place to find these goodies!

We've assembled here a selection of items from central Ohio Etsy artists - and, if you just can't wait for the mail to get to you, many of them are also available in local shops.

OH, BABY, BABY, BABY!

Kelly Zalenski's twinzzshop operation was inspired by her own - you guessed it - twins. When she had her baby shower, she recalled that several cards were customized with "'baby' crossed out and replaced by 'babies'" - that's how hard it was for her friends and family to find anything aimed at mommies of multiples.

"It was until they (son Rhys and daughter Kyle) were about 6 months old," she told us in an email, "when I decided to make them their first set of onesies that celebrate twins - 'mac and cheese' and 'milk & cookies.' Now I have over 175 designs for twins, siblings and, of course, all the single babies!"

Part of Zalenski's line addresses other multiples, like this set of O.M.G. onesies for triplets. It's $59 for the set and these hand-sewn outfits are made with Rabbitskins bodysuits (she also does Carter's brand on request) and are embellished with recycled t-shirt appliques (and the purchaser gets to pick the color of each letter). They're available in newborn, 6M, 12M, 18M and 24M sizes. On Etsy, you can find her at twinzzshop. In Columbus, you can find lots of Twinzzshop products at Wholly Craft in Clintonville.

BABY ON FLEEK

For the on-trend infant, nothing is more culturally with-it than a "Straight Outta Columbus" onesie. Alison Rose, owner of the eponymous AlisonRose shop on Etsy, has crafted the combed, ringspun cotton bodysuits for $20 each. Sizes available include newborn, 18M and 24M, and she's currently restocking 6M and 12M. Rose and her husband Nicholas founded their hand-screening print and design business 12 years ago. They create a wide range of printed apparel, wallets, posters and other goods.

Her wares also are available at Wholly Craft, the Wexner Center Store, Celebrate Local and CornerSmiths in Canal Winchester; they operate their own print shop in Clintonville; and they have their own website.

WHOOOO'S THAT LITTLE CUTIE?

We know more than just a few people who have a thing for owls. Well, if you do, too, and they've just hatched their own baby owl, here is the perfect noggin-topper for them! Teri Myers, who runs AFieldOfSunflowers on Etsy, hand-crochets these baby owl hats ($24 each).

In an email, she explained, "I started my Etsy shop during the last few months that I worked at Otterbein University as a Researcher. I retired from Otterbein in 2014 and focus on Etsy now as a retirement hobby."

The name of her business comes from a favorite photo taken on a day trip with her kids when they were young. You can see the photo on her Etsy site - and it is quite the sight!

Each hat is made to order and available in sizes 3-6M, 6-12M, 12-24M and 3-5Y, and you can get them in a variety of colors. You can also find some of her products at the Quilt Store Next Door in Pataskala.

BABY BUCKEYE BOOTIES

You know you've got to keep those little tootsies warm. Well, why not do it in high Buckeye style? Julia Nicely Borland of KnittingNicely knits each of these booties with Simply Soft yarn and then adorns them with handmade polymer-clay buckeye buttons. They come in sizes small (about 4 inches long, 2.5 inches wide and 2 inches deep) and large (4.5 x 3 x 2 inches). She can also make smaller or larger sizes, if requested - just ask!

Each pair ($15) is made to order (and you must also check out the Converse-style baby high-tops, too). The booties are only available on Etsy, but she also sells handknit catnip mice at The Morgan House Gift Shop in Shawnee Hills.

How did Borland get into the Etsy biz? She said she "started my Etsy business because I love to knit! Etsy is a great site for creative and handmade products...it's a great place to find unique gifts. I call my 'shop' KnittingNicely after my hobby and my maiden name; my Grandma Nicely taught me how to knit when I was little so it honors her in a way, too."

PLAY THAT PARENT CARD

Now it's no longer "just an expression" - it's a real thing, thanks to IglooLetterpress, which is already a fabulous shop in Worthington. They're also available online at Etsy (and elsewhere in Columbus at Wholly Craft and Celebrate Local).

The "Parent Cards" sell for $6 on Etsy, but don't stop there! They've got all kinds of new-parent goodies in their inventory!

Igloo, which was created by Allison Chapman in 1996, uses antique equipment and printing types left to Chapman by her late grandfather. When Chapman moved to Columbus in 2008, she brought the business (and equipment) with her and set up her delightful studio, which also offers classes, bookbinding services and a large line of greeting cards, posters, journals and art prints.

Best of all, the business is booming and moving to a new location in October! It will move around the corner to 661-B High Street in Worthington.
