Speaking of fresh fruits and vegetables, the Crest Gastropub has been collaborating closely with the Clintonville Farmers' Market this summer. Each Saturday morning, Chef Julian Menaged visits the market to meet with farmers, get inspiration and buy ingredients for that week's market-themed dinner special. Pick up ideas for working seasonal fruits and vegetables into your own meals during Menaged's cooking demonstration at the market Aug. 6. The restaurant's summer of locally farmed foods will culminate in a Meet Your Farmers event Aug. 7, as part of Local Foods Week. The Crest will invite local purveyors whose ingredients are used on the menu throughout the year, offering diners a chance to get to know the farmers responsible for the foods they're eating. Visit the Crest in person at 2855 Indianola Ave. or online at thecrestgastropub.com.
Great news for families that dread grocery shopping day: Kroger has launched a new online ordering service at select central Ohio stores. The grocery chain's ClickList service is similar to Giant Eagle's Curbside Express. Fill your cart online from a computer or mobile device, then schedule a date and time for curbside pickup (orders must be placed by midnight the day before a pickup, and pickups can be scheduled between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m.). Orders can get as specific as how thinly sliced you'd like your deli meats. Visit kroger.com/onlineshopping to see which Kroger locations offer ClickList.
