Author visits mark Bexley store's grand opening

Two children’s authors are among the special guests at the grand opening of Gramercy Books.

The lineup for the Bexley shop’s Jan. 27-29 celebration includes poet Maggie Smith, children’s author and illustrator Will Hillenbrand, songwriter Eric Gnezda, novelist Lee Martin and Goosebumps author R.L. Stine, who is a Bexley native and Ohio State University graduate.

Hillenbrand will do a reading, meet and greet and book signing at 11 a.m. Jan. 28. Stine will appear Sunday at the Drexel Theatre, with a screening of Goosebumps: The Movie, a post-screening talk and a book signing. Advance tickets ($10) are required.

Gramercy, founded by city resident Linda Kass.and veteran bookstore operator John Gaylord, occupies 3,000 square feet at 2424 E. Main St. Kass, an author and community advocate, is married to developer Frank Kass.

The shop has a children’s section as well as a Kitties Cakes café. Plans call for the bookstore to host story times as well as author, songwriter and poetry series.
