Kids concert explores space, honors John Glenn
Join the Columbus Symphony Orchestra this weekend for an out-of-this-world family event.
For its latest installment in the Concerts for Kids series, Let’s Go to Outer Space!, the CSO will feature themed music, including selections from Star Trek, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and Star Wars. Attendees are invited to come dressed as their favorite space hero. The hourlong concert, aimed at ages 3-10, will be dedicated to former astronaut and U.S. Sen. John Glenn of Ohio.
The performance begins at 3 p.m. March 5 at the Ohio Theatre, 39 E. State St., Columbus 43215. Tickets are $12 adults, $8 children.
Mike Stamatikos, a visiting assistant physics professor at Ohio State University, will narrate a journey into space and the Momentum youth dance group will perform.
Pre-concert activities, which begin at 2 p.m., include physics demonstrations, hands-on music activities, crafts and a chance to meet CSO mascot Bee-Thoven.
