New event celebrates African-American history

A new city-affiliated African-American Cultural Festival aims to celebrate freedom and equal rights through a free family-friendly event.

The Columbus Recreation and Parks Department and the Department of Neighborhoods will host the event from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 3 in the city’s King-Lincoln District.

Visitors can see live performances from local artists, visit the KidsZone, learn about community and wellness resources, visit vendors and walk along the Long Street Cultural Wall, which offers information about the Near East Side’s history.
