Columbus-area students perform Nov. 19.
Capriccio Youth Choir will kick off its season with a concert focused on family.
“The Strength of Family” will be presented at 4 p.m. Nov. 19 at North Broadway United Methodist Church, 48 E. North Broadway, Columbus. Tickets are $10, but students are admitted free. They can be purchased in advance at capricciocolumbus.org/tickets/# or at the door.
During the show, Capriccio’s Virtuoso choir will perform the American premiere of “The Sound of Our Home,” written by Paul Jarman and Bonnie Nilsson. Three other groups, Cantare, Primo Voce and Spiritus, also will sing. According to an event announcement, songs will include “Dors Dors Petit Bebe (Sleep Little One),” a Cajun folk song; “Gamaya,” influenced by chants and Sanskrit text; “I’m Goin’ Up a Yonder,” a spiritual; “Morokeni,” a traditional African greeting song; and “Tongo,” a Polynesian folk song.
Capriccio Youth Choir is composed of five groups of students in grades 2-12 who audition for a place in the ensembles. In addition to the above groups, a Tour Choir was added this year.
