Ashland Business and Professional Women had a Derby Day’s Style Show, Saturday, May 5. The special meeting was held at PumpHouse.
People were greeted with piano music by Nancy Young.
President Carolyn Hrinda welcomed everyone, including BPW/OHIO President Linda Wiegand and BPW Region 1 President Leona Phillips. She then turned the meeting over to Roberta Weiler.
Carol Keil sang "My Old Kentucky Home," accompanied by Young.
Lorell Kline and Kathy Norris were in charge of the style show, clothes from Clothes Minded Boutique. Lorell announced details about the clothes worn by models Carolyn Hrinda, Arian Arter, Courtney Barber and MacKenzie Mathias.
Weiler handed out papers with the names of horses in the real Kentucky Derby. Papers were collected by Roberta Weiler and the person with the winning horse was contacted after the race to receive a prize.
Two games of Derby Bingo were played. Winners were Leona Phillips and Nancy Miller.
The stick horse races were conducted by Karen McCready. There was a tie between jockey Shirley Slater with trainer Brenda Workman and jockey Stacy Dilgard with trainer Nancy Miller.
Lorell Kline won the 50/50 event. Nancy Miller won the hat decorating contest.
The Doggie Treat gift basket, donated by Cheryl Fulk, was won by Kathy Norris. The Mint Julep basket, donated by Karen Prelipp, was won by Leona Phillips.
