Editor,

Continuing our tradition, the Cambridge City Park staff had the pleasure of working with our local Secret Santa volunteers to sponsor "Breakfast with Santa" on December 2 at the City Park Armory. This is 11th year for our event and fun times keep happening thanks to the hard work and volunteer spirit of a lot of people.

I would like to thank all the families and friends who attended our breakfast, because the people of our community are truly the backbone of any program like this, so again thank you for supporting our Christmas effort. To that end, we raised nearly $1,200.00 and it ALL goes directly to Secret Santa!

I would like to thank Bob Evans of Cambridge, McDonalds East Wheeling Avenue and Food Distributors for their generous donations of food and supplies. You are SO important to our success. Special mention goes out to our Gold Sponsors: Bi-Con Services, Plastic Compounders and Cambridge Packaging; as well as our silver sponsor Strauss Fence for their continued and generous sponsorship of our events! If we had to purchase everything necessary to do this our proceeds would suffer greatly, so a heart-felt thanks goes out to these people and businesses.

I want to send a special thank you to John Davis, Jerry Shaffer and their crew for insuring that Secret Santa continues to have a voice in our community. Together with the many Secret Santa volunteers they demonstrate by their actions their commitment to this community and to the children and families served by Secret Santa.

Thank goodness the spirit of Christmas is felt all year through the unselfish goodness that is passed out in only a few hours, but it's a 364-day effort! I speak for all the employees at the Cambridge City Park and the Cambridge Park Board when I say that we are proud to be a part of Secret Santa’s effort, and even though our part may be small in comparison, it’s something we look forward to doing each year.

Again, thanks to all involved and Merry Christmas.
