Robert C. Dunn Field at the Rootstown Rover Stadium will be the site of the annual Kickin’ It For Katie Alumni Soccer Game on July 20 at 7 p.m.

Played in honor each season for Rootstown alumna Katie Iarussi, the soccer game includes all alumni interested in playing.

The new school year is less than two months from opening the doors of Rootstown High School again for students.

Freshmen should plan to attend Freshmen and New Student Orientation on Aug. 27 when Rootstown will also hold an open house.

Orientation begins at 5 p.m. on that Monday with the open house starting at 6 p.m.

The community is invited to the 2018 Levy Committee Kick-Off Meeting set for Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Rootstown High School.

Rover Football, just off a successful post-season that saw the team advance to the Division VI regional final, is preparing for the 2018 season.

The team will host their annual Sausage Sandwich Sale from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on July 20 in front of the high school.

The freshly made sausage sandwiches are one of the main fundraisers for the football boosters each season.

Parents, family and friends interested in helping the boosters in their efforts during the sausage sandwich sale, at weekly team meals throughout the season and other activities, may text Jill Klicman at 330-603-6471. Include your name in the text.

Josh Flachbart, Most Valuable Player of the Rootstown varsity bowling team, qualified to bowl at the USBC Junior Gold Championships in Dallas, Texas.

The Junior Gold Championships feature the top youth bowlers across the United States and awards scholarships as youth bowlers have the opportunity to earn a spot on the national team.

Good luck to Josh as he heads to Texas this week with the opening ceremony set for Sunday at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Practice in tournament conditions is prior to the opening ceremony with competition beginning on July 16.
