Speed limit survey requested
At the July 18 Belmont County Commissioners meeting, the board voted to request the Ohio Department of Transportation survey sections of 16 county roads for possibly reducing the current 55 mph posted limit for safety reasons.
Fifteen of the roads are in the eastern half of the county and one in the west. The local road is CR 128 in Somerset Twp. Commissioners ask that a 2.11-mile section of the highway be surveyed from the intersection of TR-19 (Ed Miller Road), going north through the village of Boston and ending at the intersection of TR-21 (Mason Road).
Sheriff’s Office vehicles purchased
Belmont Commissioners authorized the purchase of three Ford Explores from Lebanon Ford at the station purchase price of $27,686 each for the use of the Sheriff’s Office on July 18. The vehicles will replace older, high mileage vehicles in the department’s road patrol fleet.
