The fundraiser will be held in conjunction with the Columbus Food Truck Festival.

The Scioto River will get thousands of new inhabitants Aug. 18—albeit temporarily—as the seventh annual Columbus Duck Race takes flight.

The race, a fundraiser for The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, takes place at 6 p.m. Aug. 18 at Genoa Park, 303 W. Broad St. The event also includes children’s activities and family entertainment, starting at 11 a.m.

Again this year, this race is partnering with the Columbus Food Truck Festival, the largest such event in the country, according to organizers. More than 70 trucks will set up shop from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Aug. 17 and 18 along the Scioto Mile.

Ducks are $5 each or available in groups of six ($25) to 130 ($500). They can be purchased at the festival until 5 p.m. Aug. 18. Three cash prizes will be awarded: $1,000, $2,500 and $5,000.
