Basketball and wrestling seasons are upon us, but news is still being received about post-season honors earned by members of the Loudonville High fall sports teams.
The Redbird girls soccer team had the most successful season with a 13-3-3 record, in addition to qualifying for district competition.
Three Redbirds made the Mid-Buckeye Conference first team, Makaylee Zuercher, Rachel Weber and Nikki Weber, while Stephanie Kline earned second team and Yessenia Chavez was honorable mention.
Nikki Weber was named all-Ohio.
The football team was 0-10 and was 0-7 in its first year against tough President's Athletic Conference competition, a league with three postseason qualifiers. In all, four Redbird foes made the postseason, Manchester, Fairless, Cuyacoga Valley Christian Academy and Hillsdale.
Dylan Polen was named to first team PAC; Alec Bender, the Redbird's kicker, was named league specialist of the year; and Bryce Swindall and Mason Huffman ear bed league honorable mentions.
The Redbird volleyball team went 4-24, 2-8 in the Mid-Buckeye Conference. Haley Keener was named first team MVC; McKenna Haggerty second team, and Brooke Beans honorable mention.
The boys soccer team went 5-12, and 0-3 in the tough MBC. Two players, Tomas Sanchez and Dillon Portz, were named first team MBC; Joe Henley second team; and Jarryd Baynes honorable mention.
For the golf team, Ryan Odenkirk earned MBC honorable mention.
Boys Cross Country, Jacob Gessner was honorable mention; and girls cross country, Emma Hinkle and Lily Hemry first team MBC; and Olivia MacQueen and Corena Scott honorable mention.
Additionally, Emma Hinkle qualified for regional competition and placed 20th there. The top 12 in the regionals advanced to the state meet.
