Nationwide Children's offers tips for gluten-free grilling

Sizzling burgers and cool potato salad are a big part of summer. But avoiding gluten at a cookout can prove to be a formidable task for anyone with a gluten allergy or celiac disease.

Fortunately, Nationwide Children's Hospital has come up with some tips for families trying to eat their way through backyard barbeques this summer while ditching the wheat.

Check the condiments - read the labels. If there are no squeeze bottles, make sure to use a clean knife to spread the ketchup. Ask if the meat is plain - seasonings added to meat often contain gluten. Bring a dish that you know if gluten-free - veggie platters, mixed fruit bowls or potato salad are summer staples anyway.
