Looking for a new place to get the play group together AND have a great, reasonably-priced lunch? You should try the Franklin Park Conservatory sometime soon!
A lot of moms I talk to don't realize that the Conservatory has a great little cafe. In fact it's called -- wait for it -- the Garden Cafe. You don't even have to pay the Conservatory admission fee to go to the cafe (it's on that first floor, not the ground floor you go down the ramp to, but the one you go up the ramp to).
The menu has the usual kid options like mac and cheese, chicken fingers and PB&J, but they're gourmet quality and the adult fare is beyond fabulous. I still get weepy when I think about some of the lunches I've had there for like $5 or $6. Much of the produce and herbs used for the meals are grown right there on the Conservatory's Scotts Miracle-Gro Community Garden campus (also worth a free visit; the bee apiary is way cool to watch – from behind the safety of windows and tall walls).
So check it out – and tell 'em Columbus Parent sent you! They're open daily from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., and until 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.
