The Family Film Series is guaranteed to be a HOOT at the Gateway Film Center, starting this weekend!

HOOT is the name of the series, and itís a free monthly festival of short films and cartoons from around the world. Plus thereís live music and lots more family-friendly activities. It will happen every final Saturday of the month at the Gateway Film Center, which is right near the campus of the Ohio State University at 1550 N. High St.

The first one takes place this Saturday, Jan. 29. The Shazzbots, a popular local kids band, will provide music between short films. FURBALL, ABRIDGED, DONíT LET THE PIGEON DRIVE THE BUS, TIN CAN HEART, and MOON GIRL are some of the short films that will be making their Columbus premiere (and everything is G-rated).

Doors open at 10 a.m. and films begin showing at 11 a.m., going until 1 p.m. Admission is free, but itís suggested that you bring a donation of one canned good per person to benefit the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. HOOT is sponsored by Columbus Parent and Little Dreamers Big Believers. And donít forget: convenient $1 parking (up to 3 hours) is available year round in the GFC garage located right next door to the cinema on both 9th and 11th avenues.
