The Columbus Cancer Clinic believes that prevention and early detection are important tools to combat cancer, so the nonprofit, United Way agency is accepting screening appointments at the following locations for these dates and times:

At the Columbus Cancer Clinic, 1699 W. Mound St., Columbus 43223 on Monday, April 2; Monday, April 9; Wednesday, April 11, Monday, April 16; Wednesday, April 25 and Monday, April 30 (8:30 a.m.-3 p.m each day)

At Heritage Tower, 1145 College Ave., Columbus 43209 onThursday, April 5 (9 a.m.-12 noon)

At the Morse Road Clinic, Haimerl Building, 1421 Morse Rd., Columbus 43224 on Thursday, April 26 (11 a.m.-2 p.m.)

Examinations, which include the mouth, lymph nodes, rectum and skin, are performed by a certified nurse practitioner.In addition, women receive a clinical breast exam and a pelvic exam, which includes a pap smear. Men are examined for prostate and testicular cancer, and may receive a PSA (prostate specific antigen-blood test).

Medicare and Medicaid can be billed for the exam.For others, a sliding scale based on income is used to establish the cost of exam.Services provided regardless of ability to pay.
