Event focuses on protecting the environment

Westerville's 4th Friday event will focus on having fun outside and protecting the environment this month.

"We choose this theme because this whole community is so dedicated to being green," said Jeff Hartnell, executive director of the Westerville Visitor's Convention Bureau.

Various recreation, environmental and outdoor safety experts will set up stations to share information. The event also will feature several bands, food trucks, dance groups and other kid-friendly entertainment. Events and displays will focus on plants, animals and various ways to enjoy wildlife and the great outdoors.

Stores will offer extended shopping hours.

The event takes place from 6 to 9 p.m., May 24 in Uptown Westerville.
