Organization helps clothe children in need
Charity Newsies has helped clothe over 500,000 children in need since 1907. Their mission: "that no child shall be kept out of school for lack of adequate clothing."
Beginning Aug. 24, Charity Newsies will begin accepting applications for the 2013-14 school year at Columbus Public Library locations and the organization's headquarters. Once the application is complete, a volunteer from the organization will visit the child's home to determine the level of need.
After the visit, the applicant can make an appointment to select a coat, shirt, pants, underwear and socks from the Charity Newsies' store, located at 4300 Indianola Ave.
Applications must be completed by a parent or guardian; the child must live in Franklin County and attend a Franklin County K-12 school; and the applicant must present valid photo ID and proof of income. For more information, locations to apply or how to contribute, visit www.charitynewsies.com.
