Learn about ticks and Lyme disease from expert on Feb. 23
As the number of cases of Lyme disease grows in Ohio, many parents may be wondering about the dangers of ticks -- small arachnids that can transmit a variety of diseases.
The Columbus MetroParks have invited Ohio State University entomologist and tick expert Glen Needham to speak about ticks during an upcoming Science Sunday program.
Needham will share information and answer questions about ticks that can be found in Ohio. The number of reported cases of Lyme disease in Ohio rose from 43 in 2010 to 67 in 2012.
Needham's free "Tick Talk" is at 2 p.m., Feb. 23 at the Beech Maple Lodge at Blacklick Woods, 6975 E. Livingstone Ave., Reynoldsburg, 43068.
