It's time for the Pleasure Guild's latest musical theater extravaganza!

It's time for the Pleasure Guild's latest musical theater extravaganza! This year it's Shrek the Musical, playing at the Palace Theatre on March 7, 8 and 9.

Set in a mythical "once upon a time" sort of land, Shrek the Musical is the story of a hulking green ogre who, after being mocked and feared his entire life by anything that crosses his path, retreats to an ugly green swamp to exist in happy isolation.

Suddenly, a gang of homeless fairy-tale characters (Pinocchio, Cinderella, the Three Pigs, you name it) raid his sanctuary, saying they've been evicted by the vertically challenged Lord Farquaad. So Shrek strikes a deal: I'll get your homes back, if you give me my home back!

But when Shrek and Farquaad meet, the Lord strikes a deal of his own: He'll give the fairy-tale characters their homes back, if Shrek rescues Princess Fiona. Shrek obliges, yet finds something appealing–something strange and different–about this pretty princess. He likes her. A lot. But why does she always run off when the sun sets?

As always, all proceeds will benefit the Nationwide Children's Hospital Hospice and Palliative Care Program. Pleasure Guild is the oldest woman's auxiliary of Nationwide Children's Hospital, dating back to 1908. The organization is dedicated to raising funds, more than $200,000 annually, for central Ohio's only pediatric hospice and palliative care program.

Tickets start at $15 and can be purchased at the CAPA Ticket Office located at 39 East State Street or by calling 614-469-0939. Tickets are also available on Ticketmaster.com.

Special note: the Sunday, March 9 show at 2 p.m. will be signed for the hearing impaired.
