Columbus Museum of Art lets kids experiment with art

Have you heard about the open studios for kids and teens at the Columbus Museum of Art? These great drop-in sessions let kids experiment with art in a low-key but well-supported environment.

The teen sessions - called SURGE Columbus - takes place every Thursday in May from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. SURGE Columbus, Teen Open Studio. Just drop in and experiment with the technology and arts supplies provided. SURGE is a collaboration between CMA, Columbus Metropolitan Library, Wexner Center for the Arts, COSI, and WOSU Public Media, and is made possible by a grant from Battelle Memorial Institute with lead sponsor support from JPMorgan Chase Foundation.

Young Child Studios, which do require preregistration and cost a $5 per child (plus adult CMA admission for non-members), is a new hands-on workshop featuring multiple activities for adults and children ages 18 months to 5 years to try side-by-side. CMA staff help, too! Sessions in May will take place on Thursdays, May 15 and 29 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Space is limited, so please call Amanda Kepner at 614-629-5947 for more information or to register.
