Learn about invasives at Scioto Audubon Metro Park

Here's a sneaky way to get the kids excited about weeding: Bring them to the Scioto Audubon Metro Park's family-programming event this weekend where they'll learn all about invasive plant species like garlic mustard, purple loosestrife and honeysuckle, and help eradicate them from park land. Then, you can bring them home to do the same there!

Scioto Audubon hosts free family-focused programs every Saturday and Sunday from 1-3 p.m. This weekend it's "Invasives Beware!" and next weekend it's a program about reptiles and amphibians. The week after that, it's all about macroinvertebrates in the wetlands.

Meet at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center, located at 400 W. Whittier St., Columbus (just west of the Brewery District). For more information, go to www.metroparks.net
