HOOT family film event at Gateway
Gateway Film Center hosts its 43rd HOOT family film event this Saturday, Aug. 30 at 10 a.m. and with this one they are hoping to surpass the two-ton mark for canned good donations.
At each of these HOOT programs, which feature live music and cartoons on the big screen, families are able to attend for free with the donation of one non-perishable food item. The donations go to support operations at The Open Shelter, which serves an average of 165 of Columbus's homeless men, women and children every day. To date, they have collected nearly two tons of non-perishables.
Activities in the Gateway Film Center lobby includes a performance by local indie-family rock legend The Shazzbots, as well as crafts and sensory friendly screenings for OSU's Nisonger Center for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
Gateway Film Center is located just south of the OSU main campus at 1550 N. High St. and parking is available in the South Campus Gateway parking garage, which is accessible from both 9th and 11th avenues. For more information, go to www.gatewayfilmcenter.com.
