Tree lightings abound this weekend

Lots of holiday trees are getting lit, starting this weekend. Here's a roundup of several:

Friday, Nov. 20: Short North Tree Lighting. From5-6 p.m., joinfeatured performers for the first tree lighting of evening: It happens at Poplar Park on the south end of the Short North neighborhood. Then at8 p.m., head to the northern end of the District for another tree lighting at Greenwood Park and a special outdoor holiday performance by Short North Stage. Friday, Nov. 20: Wildlights. The Mack Daddy of holiday lights opens to the public Friday at 5 p.m. and runs through Jan. 3. Opening night is also "Stuff a Truck" night, when the donation of five canned goods (per person) to aid a local hunger-relief organization gets you in for free. Saturday, Nov. 21: Merry & Bright. The Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens literally comes alive with its annual holiday display of poinsettias, lights, model trains, gingerbread houses and more! For more information, go www.fpconservatory.org.

Sunday, Nov. 22: Holiday Lights! At Creekside Park. Family fun events happen all afternoon and into the evening, from 3-7:30 p.m. with the tree lighting and a visit from Santa occurring at 6:15 p.m. in downtown Gahanna's Creekside Park. For more information, go to www.visitgahanna.com.
