Blooms & Butterflies returns

They're baaaack! The ever-popular Blooms & Butterflies has re-opened at the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. The exhibit opened March 12 and runs through Sept. 18. According to the conservatory, hundreds of butterflies fill the Pacific Island Water Garden. Newly emerged butterflies are released each day at 1 and 3 p.m. during educational presentations. Several new species are taking flight this year, including the Giant Glasswing. This year, families can witness the butterfly life cycle firsthand at home. Painted Lady caterpillars are available in the conservatory's Botanica Gift Shop. Once their metamorphosis is complete, the butterflies can be released outdoors. Admission to the conservatory is $13 for adults, $10 for senior citizens and students with a valid ID, $6 for children ages 3-17 and free for children 2 and younger. For more information, go to
