WAG!, a dog-friendly festival, will be held Saturday, August 23 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Darby Bend Lakes area of Prairie Oaks Metro Park. Admission is free.
Coined "the leading dog-centric event in central Ohio," WAG! brought more than 1,700 canines and 6,800 humans together in 2007-its inaugural year.
From educational advice to live entertainment, WAG! is a free, fun way for dog enthusiasts to buy and learn about the products and services needed for their canine companions.
Scheduled activities include:
WAG! Wilderness Walk benefiting the Capital Area Humane Society. Participants must register in advance at the Web site listed below. Educational programs, contests, special guests and attractions at the Take a Bow Wow Stage. Exhibits include: products and services from pet retailers, veterinarians, doggie day care centers, pet photography and art, groomers, insurance, carpet cleaning, dog walkers and trainers, clubs and organizations dedicated to the health and well-being of canines. On-site data ID chip implants for dogs. Learn about the right dog for you at the Meet the Breed Pavilion, sponsored by the Franklin County Dog Shelter. Demonstrations with dog agility groups, Frisbee dogs, rescue dogs and others. Swimming and dog volleyball at the Water Bark Beach. Canine companion adoptions at one of the various dog rescue groups. Musical Campfire and Celebration at Glacier Ridge

Join the fun at "Musical Mark's Kids' Show" with music and songs around a campfire. Bring snacks to roast.
He will also be performing a set of songs from his latest CD; "We're just hangin' out" - a CD of all songs about bats!

Family Wading at Blacklick Woods
Saturday, August 23, 2 pm
Take a 2-mile walk and get your feet wet looking for critters in Blacklick Creek.
Closed-toed wading shoes, such as old sneakers, recommended.
Flip-flops, sandals without covered toes or back straps and going barefoot are not recommended in Blacklick Creek.
Naturalists will provide nets and containers for the program.
