Bonsai for Kids
Let the Arboretum nurture your child's creativity through the art of bonsai. Often thought of as an "adults-only" practice, bonsai is appropriate for nearly any age. Arboretum Bonsai Curator Keith Stevens will encourage your child to express his or her unique perspective. Tools are provided. Home School Electronics Workshop at Studio J
The workshop is an introduction to our home school electronics classes. Students will practice soldering, use test equipment such as the oscilloscope and digital voltmeters. Kids will review various circuits and transistors. This is an exciting way to interest your child in the field of electronics as a hobby or future career. The workshop is for ages 8 to 16 at 146 E. Discover a variety of animals through storybooks, activities and crafts. This program meets every Monday for three weeks. Thanks for Thanksgiving 'Mom and Me'
This month's program begins by reading Thanks for Thanksgiving, by Julie Markers and Doris Barrette. Then, we will lead you through this month's project, which is a pie dish with your sweetie pie's handprint inside the dish. We also have several other Thanksgiving-themed ideas for you if you choose to do something else. We will walk you through your selection and our staff will do personalized writing at no additional charge for program attendees. The 'Mom and Me' program runs the second Monday of each month beginning at 10 a.m. Each program begins with story time followed by a themed project. Thanksgiving Day Columbus Turkey Trot and Columbus Parent Magazine Walk and Talk
As the oldest and largest Thanksgiving Day race in central Ohio, the Turkey Trot has been a family tradition for almost 20 years. This year's goal is to raise over $20,000 for the Central Ohio Easter Seals Chapter and their efforts to provide services to kids with autism and their families. There are several ways for you and your family to get involved with the race. The Chase Columbus Turkey Trot is a 5-mile walk/ run that begins at 9 a.m. The first 2000 finishers will receive a pumpkin pie. Also starting at 9 a.m. is the Columbus Parent Magazine Walk and Talk. This 2-mile walk is ideal for families looking to bond and work off some calories before the big meal. The first 100 finishers get a pumpkin pie.
