Want to get in some good-old fashioned family fun this winter? Smugglers' Notch Resort in Vermont specializes in just that. Some would say winter is the best time to head to Smuggs.
Smugglers' Notch received 353 inches of the white stuff in the 2008-2009 ski season, with the annual average being around 247 inches. Of course, one can expect first-class ski trails and lifts, but Smuggs goes beyond expectations.
Smugglers' offers state-licensed child care at Treasures for children as young as six weeks. And even your toddlers can get in on the skiing fun. Toddlers can learn skiing fundamentals in the Little Rascals on Snow program. Beginning around age 2 to 3, children can develop beginning skills on the slopes and of course fit in some play and nap time as well. And once youngsters are out of diapers, they can join in on all-day ski camps. Age-appropriate ski and snowboard programs such as Adventure Rangers for children ages 6-10, or the Notch Squad Ski and Snowboard Camp for 11-15 year olds are available and even older teens can enjoy hanging out with other teens in the Explorer Program. And, of course, there are plenty of skiing and snowboarding lesson for us adults as well.
While Smuggs specializes in skiing, there's also plenty more opportunities to have fun in the great outdoors. Enjoy snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, or even snowshoeing. A popular new way to enjoy the mountain trails is air boarding on the Morse Highland slopes. A special Winter Walking program at Smugglers' offers daily two-hour walks. These guided tours gives guests "backside" views of Vermont on quiet country roads and the trails. Evening entertainment ranges from Karaoke, family game nights, Nordic night tours, comedy, magic and hypnosis shows, fireworks and torchlight parades and so much more.
Smugglers' offers a very inclusive vacation package called the Club Smugglers' Advantage Package that fits together lift tickets, lessons and lodging for all family members, plus includes many of the special activities just mentioned plus access to the FunZone indoor family play center and use of pools and hot tubs.
Families can choose just the right size of accommodations to fit both family size and your wallet. Smugglers' recommends time and care in selecting your condominium. After all, it will be your home away from home. Consider if you want special views, how close you want to be to restaurants, how many bedrooms you need and if you'll need a fully-equipped condo or a simpler type of lodging. A little time and care up front will ensure that you get exactly what your family needs for a quality vacation. To make getting around easy, the resort offers a free shuttle service that runs daily throughout the Village and to the upper mountain lifts.
Smugglers' even offers a family fun guarantee assuring that each family member will have fun, learn to ski or snowboard or improve their techniques, regardless of their current ability level, or Smugglers' will refund the lesson portion of that person's vacation package.
