Smoothing winter-chapped hands.

With the cold and flu season upon us, everyone is taking preventive measures to ward off the flu bug -- making us hand-washing fanatics. But constant hand washing can wreak havoc on our hands, causing them to become dry, brittle and crack. Yikes! Sounds painful huh? Well it is.

If you are anything like me, the second the cold air hits my hands they begin to lose their summertime moisture and start getting extremely dry. With the flu lurking around every corner and having a toddler, I wash my hands a lot, but I have a couple of products that I have discovered that actually work!

C.O. Bigelow's Chapped Hands Cleanser "Soap Free"--This soap-free cleanser contains aloe vera and jojoba oil that helps to smooth and seal in moisture. Instead of soap, slather this product onto your hands and wash them like you normally would do. All you need to do is rinse with warm water and your hands are left soft, smooth and clean. You can find it at Bath and Body Works or the C.O. Bigelow Store and costs about $12.

Aquaphor -- I discovered this product when my son was a baby and I love it and recommend it to every mom. This stuff heals dry, chapped hands, lips, cuts, burns, diaper rash and even that nasty acne babies get. A little bit of Aquaphor goes a long way because it has the consistency of Vaseline. But rub some of this on your hands and they begin healing instantly. You can find Aquaphor in the baby or pharmacy aisle of your local drugstore or grocery store. It comes in a tube or in a tub and runs anywhere from $6 to $8, depending on size.

Protect yourself from the flu this season and protect your beautiful mommy hands as well!
