Central Ohio Folk Festival Introduce your kids to some new music at the annual folk music festival. For the past 15 years, the fest has showcased musicians with their guitars and banjos as they entertain the crowd with folk music. Held the weekend of May 4-6 at Battelle-Darby Creek Metro Park, the festival is full of family fun, including music, food, stories and more. Komen Race for the Cure will host its 20th race in the capital city. Round up friends and family members to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. The 5K course will loop through Downtown Columbus, and there also will be a one-mile family fun walk. The event is Saturday, May 19 and begins at 8 a.m. Registration is $30 for adults and $15 for children. The Wilds conservation center kicks off its season with an all-day affair of animals and activities. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., visit The Wilds to see animals from the Columbus Zoo and other entertainment, all for free! 14000 International Rd. Cumberland 740-638-5030 Asian Festival Spend Memorial Day weekend immersing yourself in Asian culture at this annual festival. It's held at the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, and the two-day bash lets visitors experience Asian food, art and entertainment. There's even a children's area with games, origami and costumes. Check it out on Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free for all. 1777 E. Broad St. East Side 614-451-3550 Commons Fun for Kids Explore the green space and enjoy the warm weather downtown during this year's first Commons for Kids day. On Friday, May 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Columbus Commons will host a plethora of activities for kids of all ages during the first Commons for Kids day (and the Columbus Metropolitan Library's mobile book truck also will stop by).
